Privacy Policy
Shopping Cart ("the App") reads shelf prices with your phone's camera and keeps a running total of what is in your basket. Your privacy is important to us, and we want to be transparent about how the App works.
The App does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data. It does not connect to the internet, and it does not send any information to external servers.
The App uses the camera to read the number on a price label. The camera preview is examined frame by frame while the scanning screen is open, and each frame is discarded immediately after it is examined.
No photo or video is ever taken, saved, or transmitted. Nothing is written to your gallery, to the App's own storage, or anywhere else. The only thing kept from a frame is the price you choose to add to your basket, which is a number.
Reading the digits is done entirely on your phone by Google's ML Kit text recognition library, which is bundled inside the App. No image or text is uploaded for processing, and the App works with the phone in aeroplane mode or in a shop with no signal.
The prices in your basket, your optional budget, and your colour and size settings are stored only on your own device using Android's SharedPreferences. They never leave your phone. Emptying the basket or uninstalling the App removes them.
The App requests one permission: access to the camera, used only while the scanning screen is open and only to read a price. The App is still usable without it, by typing prices in by hand.
The App does not use any third-party services, analytics tools, advertising networks, or tracking technologies. The text recognition library runs offline and reports nothing back.
The App does not collect any data from anyone, including children. It is safe for users of all ages.
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date below.
